Anger and apathy being frequently reported symptoms are included in the diagnostic criteria of a number of psychological disorders. Everybody experiences these mood states differently, but if they start obstructing day to day functioning, growth and social interaction, due to the severity and longevity they become a subject matter of the psychopathology. In psychopathology both anger and apathy are defined and described in different terms, such as, irritability, anger and aggression, showing various shades of the same emotional response, to objectively quantify their severity, formation and aetiology. Numbness, apathy, avolition, abulia are the terms to describe different levels of non-functioning, non-attending and unresponsiveness to the tasks necessary to carryout for a healthy and productive life. Co-morbidity of anger and apathy is quite common in disorders like anxiety, depression, schizophrenia and post-traumatic stress disorder. This paper examines the existence, significance and impact of psychopathology as a social phenomenon rather than merely an individual problem. The psychological impact of colonialism is a well identified outcome on post-colonial societies. Due to the ongoing terrorism, the Pakistani society is frequently being labelled as violent at one hand and the silent majority of it as resiliently apathetic on the other. This paper assesses the society as suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder due to a three decade long war, imposed by the neo-colonial masters, military and militias.
